Welcome to Toyland

Old-Fashioned Toys at the Holgate Toy Company
Fall/Winter 2008
Welcome to Toyland
Whether you’re young or young at heart, searching for a taste of nostalgia or looking for the perfect gift for a child, there’s really nothing like a visit to the toy store.

At the Holgate Toy Company, located in Kane, Pennsylvania, old-fashioned wooden toys abound. Featuring education and development toys, personalized and heirloom furniture, wooden games like Checkers and classic wooden blocks, Holgate has become one of the premier wooden toy companies in the nation.

Founded as a woodworking shop in 1789, Holgate’s history is as rich as its toy collection. In the 1930s, Jarvis Rockwell, brother of artist Norman Rockwell, joined the company to work as the wood shop’s toy designer. His focus on safety, durability and educational play earned the company great success with consumers.

The traditions that Rockwell started continue today. Holgate is known for toys such as the Mr. Rogers Neighborhood series, featuring puppets and wooden trolleys, as well as the “Ducking Duck” and “Handeez” wooden vehicles.
