You’re a risk taker, so you’re more than willing to take a chance at the gaming tables.
However, when it comes to a casino’s lodging, nightlife or the quality of its restaurants, no one wants to take a gamble.
Thankfully, the new $800 million MGM Grand Detroit spared no expense in creating a lush playground for travelers, providing plenty of both risk and reward. The MGM’s 18-story hotel tower looms large on Motown’s horizon, offering a striking introduction to the 400 meticulously designed guest rooms inside. If the sheer size of the chocolate-, lime- and cranberry-colored luxury guest spaces aren’t impressive enough (they start at 510 square feet), there are always their opulent amenities: Wenge furniture, zebra wood headboards and even 15-inch plasma TV embedded in the bathroom mirrors set a decadent tone.
Of course, the casino is the main draw, and with more than 90 table games and an extravagant eight-table poker room, there’s plenty to get the adrenaline pumping. But from the 20,000-square-foot Immerse Spa, to a selection of gourmet restaurants run by a who’s who of celebrity chefs, the MGM Grand has also turned itself into an all-around tourist destination. An innovative menu at the Wolfgang Puck Grille means diners can indulge in such comfort foods as ricotta blintzes with sweet berry compote for breakfast, and seafood risotto with poached lobster, Maine crab and Gulf shrimp for dinner. Meanwhile, at Bourbon Steak, thanks to the kitchen’s unique design, guests can actually watch as Michael Mina’s staff creates savory dishes such as duck-fat fries and truffle macaroni and cheese.
No matter the meal or amenity, indulging at the MGM Grand is a sure bet.
