All it takes is one day at the petting zoo for your kids to start begging for a pony.
We should warn you — that happens with iron ponies, too. Especially after four days of high revvin’ fun the whole family will enjoy at the fifth annual Mountainfest Motorcycle Rally, July 23–26 in Morgantown, West Virginia, where riders and enthusiasts from across the country convene for one of the biggest cycle celebrations around. From vintage Hondas to the newest Harleys, the nonstop tour of parades, shows, races and displays gives bike lovers of all models a chance to see their favorite machines in action.
Watch in awe as some of the best freestyle motocross riders demo jaw-dropping stunts on two strokes, or check out the sport bike action as the Adrenaline Crew wows you on one wheel. Don’t miss the vintage bike parade on Saturday and vintage races on Sunday, or the custom builder’s showcase, where you’ll get a sneak peek at what the coolest custom guys are dreaming up in their garages.
Touted as the television show that made motorcycle mania all the rage in the late 1960s, this year the rally also celebrates the 40th anniversary of “Then Came Bronson.” See replicas of Bronson’s bike, a 1968 XLH 900cc Harley Davidson Sportster, along with the largest collection of show memorabilia ever assembled.
When the kids just want to be kids, there’s also a play park with inflatable slides and other activities, or try out some high-flying fun with a tethered hot air balloon ride. And when you’re ready to forget your grown-up side, take a spin with the 2010 Harley demo fleet and you’ll feel born to be wild — even if your wild ride has temporarily been replaced by a minivan.
