With nine museums, each distinguished by first-rate collections and proximity to the exciting hub of downtown, this cluster is on par with the world’s most cosmopolitan museum centers.
The Frazier International History Museum features costumed interpreters and hands-on exhibits, depicting 1,000 years of history. Here you’ll find Geronimo’s bow, Teddy Roosevelt’s “Big Stick” and Custer’s pistol.
The Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory recently underwent major renovations, providing history buffs and baseball fanatics with even more memorabilia. Check out Sluggers used by Joe DiMaggio and Babe Ruth, and see how the bats are made on a factory tour.
While you wax nostalgic for sport’s golden age, stop by the Muhammad Ali Center, where you’ll find award-winning exhibits, multimedia presentations and historic footage from the Civil Rights movement.
Head to the Louisville Science Center for an exhilarating film on the four-story IMAX screen, and experience the Bluegrass State’s spirit, culture and historic importance through the multi-media exploration KentuckyShow! at the Kentucky Center.
