(Chow) Down on the Farm

One farm, six tables and one big sausage frenzy were just the start of the Bob Evans story — the quintessential farm-fresh fairy tale. Now sold in grocery stores and with a spin-off franchise, the family-friendly chain has grown to nearly 600 restaurants serving arguably the best-tasting breakfast food there is. Now that’s a reason to celebrate.

Revel in the delicious success at the 41st Annual Bob Evans Farm Festival, held at the Bob Evans Farm in Bidwell, Ohio, October 14–16. The three-day festivities offer something for every member of the family, from signature apple dumplings and cornbread to warm and savory bean soup, and that’s just the food. After feasting, sway to some country, gospel or bluegrass music at the Homestead Stage.

Entertain the children in the kid’s area, where you’ll find several attractions that include the interactive barnyard, hay bale maze, straw castle and splatter painting activity. The game tent offers thrills that include the annual Pedal Tractor Pull.

Staying for the entire weekend? Skip the hotel and grab your outdoor gear for an overnight stay at the Bob Evans campsite, where families enjoy sharing spooky stories and playing games before another day at the festival. After a food-filled morning, head over to the Rio Valley Stables for a wagon ride or horseback riding.

Missed the festival? Don’t worry — Bob Evans Farm offers camping, horseback riding and wagon rides regularly. And while you’re there, check out the Homestead Museum to learn more about the man behind this scrumptious story.
