Beyond the Blue

Blue Chip Casino and Spa Blu Tower
Fall/Winter 2009
Beyond the Blue
Designed to make a bold statement, the Blue Chip Casino’s new Spa Blu Tower can be considered a mission accomplished. The $130 million structure rises above the windswept dunes near the shores of Lake Michigan in Michigan City, Indiana.

To replicate a ship in full sail, the exterior of the 22-story tower is done in gradations of blue glass, delineated by LED light bands on every other floor. Inside, the first floor pulsates with energy. Dining options include It’s Vegas Baby!, a contemporary homage to the gambling mecca circa 1950; The Game, a restaurant and bar featuring a front projector and 18 TVs; Options Buffet; and William B’s Steakhouse. There’s dancing at It’s Vegas Baby! after 10 p.m. and big-name entertainers at the 22,000-square-foot Stardust Event Center, the largest in LaPorte County.

When it’s time to unwind, tranquility awaits on the floors above. The 10,000-square-foot spa includes workout facilities, his-and-hers spas, steam rooms, showers, Jacuzzis accented with gently flowing water walls and full-service salons. Those spending the night can choose from among 486 rooms and suites, many of them with expansive views of the lake.

The tower links to the 65,000-square-foot Blue Chip Casino with gaming options such as a poker room with three progressive jackpots, more than 2,100 slot machines and 48 table games including blackjack, Let It Ride, craps, roulette and mini-baccarat.
