Art and Adventure

Known as The Art Colony of the Midwest, Brown County, Indiana, and the town of Nashville provide a one-two punch of unique shopping and outdoor adventure, making it the perfect getaway for you and your friends. This combination of downtown activity and beautiful state park solitude means there’s a little something for everyone in your group.
First, you’ll never tire of Nashville’s one-of-a-kind shopping experience, with hundreds of boutiques, galleries, museums and artists’ studios. Take it a step further and plan to visit a working artist or participate in a creative workshop. Then refuel at one of Nashville’s great restaurants and cafes. You can jump-start your day with a cup of coffee at the Daily Grind and enjoy lunch at the Muddy Boots Café.
While in town, don’t miss a one-hour show at the Joybell Theater, the world’s only handbell theater. Then head over to the nearby family-owned For Bare Feet sock factory for a factory tour and an overwhelming supply of novelty, university and sports-team socks.
Brown County is a great place to plan your getaway around a theme, with its many tearooms, wineries and art retreats. But if the outdoors is your preference, Brown County State Park is the perfect destination, and it offers a wide choice of cabins, inns and bed-and-breakfast accommodations. Hike or bike the wooded trails, horseback ride through the hills or canoe on the park’s streams and rivers. When evening arrives, head back to town for dinner at the Casa del Sol Mexican restaurant.
