Amazing Maize
World’s Largest Corn Maze at Richardson Farm
Fall/Winter 2010

Lose yourself in a 33-acre corn maze — the world’s largest — located in the fields of Richardson Farm in Spring Grove, Illinois. The 2010 maze design celebrates 100 years of scouting, and is a sight to behold from the 50-foot-tall observation tower. Designed in sections of smaller mazes — so you can do as much as you want, then easily escape — the maze is fun and challenging for children and adults of all ages.
The smallest part of the giant maze has quiz questions to help guide you through, and usually takes less than 30 minutes to complete. It takes an hour or more, including many twists and turns, to solve the entire puzzle. Enjoy the maze by day or — for the brave of heart — at night. Flashlights and glow sticks are available for sale and, once you make it through, cap off the evening with a campfire and roasted marshmallows in the picnic area.
The youngest in your family will also enjoy the pedal carts and tricycles, the many goats ready to be fed and a large sandbox filled with shelled corn. Older kids will want to try out the 30-foot-high, 700- foot-long zipline and the 50-foot slide. Teens will also appreciate the Maze ’ til Midnight event, held October 22 and 23, when the mazes are navigable only by moonlight.
Ride the farm wagon to the pumpkin field to pick your own just in time for Halloween carving and enjoy some hot apple cider as the nights become cooler. Richardson Farm is the perfect setting for wholesome, fall family fun. The corn maze is open from August 7 through October 31.
